Donations of Protective Gear Needed at Sharp Hospitals

Here's what you can donate and where you can drop it off.

March 24, 2020

As of right now, no one knows how long the COVID-19 pandemic is going to last or when it will get better. With it being so unpredictable, hospitals are trying to prepare for the pandemic as much as possible, but they could really use our help right now with donations of protective gear.

Sharp HealthCare has released a list of new or unused products they need. Here's what you can donate:

-Disposable face masks

-N95 masks, sometimes called respirators

-Eye protection including face shields and safety goggles

-Disposable gowns

-Disposable gloves, especially non-latex

-Disposable surgical caps

-Disposable foot covers

-Wipes: bleach or antimicrobial

-Hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol)

-Infrared thermometers

There are some specialized items that Sharp is in need of, if you can spare it. They are:

-PAPRs (powered air-purifying respirators) and PAPR hoods

-Nasal testing swabs

-Viral testing kids

If you have any of these items, you can donate them at these 4 drop-off locations with their hours:

Sharp HealthCare, 4000 Ruffin Road, San Diego (Monday through Friday: 9a- 4p, Saturday: noon-4p)

Sharp Coronado Hospital, 250 Prospect Place, Coronado(Monday through Friday: 9a- 4p, Saturday: noon-4p)

Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, 751 Medical Center Court, Chula Vista(Monday through Friday: 9a- 4p, Saturday: noon-4p)

At this time the Sharp isn't hand-sewn masks, blankets, or 3D printed ventilator parts. If that changes, they'll let us know.

On behalf of Sharp Healthcare, THANK YOU FOR MAKING YOUR DONATIONS!
