Third Time's The Charm: "Wings of Rescue" Bring 40 More Dogs

The Third Plane To Help

September 21, 2017

@Wings of Rescue

The third time is the charm!

The load of pets are being transferred to San Diego from Acadiana Animal Aid to create space for pets evacuated from Texas and Louisiana as a result of Hurricane Harvey. The rescue is a joint effort of Wings of Rescue,, your Rancho Coastal Humane Society, Labradors and Friends Rescue, San Diego Humane Society, and The Rescued Dog.

“These incoming pets are indirect victims of Hurricane Harvey,” says RCHS President Jim Silveira. “These are highly adoptable dogs and cats who have been in animal shelters. They’re being transferred to San Diego to create room for pets who have been lost, strayed, or abandoned because of Harvey and the floods. Families can adopt them knowing that these pets do not have owners searching for them.”

The Flood Hounds are scheduled to arrive in San Diego / El Cajon on Friday afternoon to Rancho Coastal Humane Society.

This time they're flying to San Luis Obispo first to drop off dogs and cats, then coming to San Diego from LA with about 40 dogs to send them to our very own humane society where they will be put up for adoption.

Although they haven't received any word on this yet, the humane society is open to receiving any pets from any of the disaster areas in need of help or new homes including Hurricane Irma, Mexico City, or Puerto Rico.

Labradors and Friends and Rancho Coastal Humane Society are looking for assistance at the moment. Wings of Rescue are in search of crates (medium or small) to be donated to Rancho Coastal Humane Society or San Diego Humane Society.  && all participating organizations will accept donations to helps the costs of tests and flights.
